My name is Amy Lagers, and I have been the library media specialist at ZIS since the fall of 2014. I have been a Tulsa Public Schools educator since 1996, with a background in early childhood education. My undergraduate degree is from Oklahoma State University, and I earned my Master of Library and Information Services degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2011. My professional journey led me to become a librarian in 2009. I am active in the Oklahoma School Librarians Association (OKSL) and the Oklahoma Library Association (OLA), was chosen to participate in the OLA Gold Leadership program, and have served as OKSL treasurer. I was also awarded the 2013 OKSL Technology in Education Award, given to recognize efforts to meaningfully integrate technology in the curriculum. I am a Fellow with Oklahoma A+ Schools®, a school reform model involving arts integrated curriculum, authentic learning experiences, enriched assessments, and a focus on the individual learner. As part of my role with OKA+, I spend part of each summer teaching professional development for schools across the state of Oklahoma.
I live in Sand Springs with my husband, Brad, my daughter, Emily, and two spoiled dogs, Jake (dachshund/beagle mix) and Ollie (dachshund).
